Invite people to clubs

Craig the cookie fairy 6 years ago updated by Jada Nightflame 6 years ago 3

I think this'll be a great feature to have. Have an invite button (whether you're admin or a member) to invite other WoP users to your club which they'd get in an owl. They can then accept or decline of course :)

From the DK site:"Move all gifts to your chest"

WoPideasblahblah 6 years ago updated by World of Potter 6 years ago 3

From the DK site: When putting gifts in the chest, instead of doing in one at a time, I would like to have the option, to put them ALL in at once. like "Move all gifts to your chest"

VIP

-bg 6 years ago updated by World of Potter 4 years ago 7

Earlier there was a topic about the Student Jobs being underpaid and some were vouching for people with student jobs to get Free VIP membership as some sort of IRL payment. While I agree with WoP, which stated that that would mean a lot of people got VIP for free and that would not be possible, I do think that statement should be paired with another change on WoP.

After two weeks of absence, members who have not logged in get an e-mail telling them they got free VIP to get them back to the site. I think that if it is impossible to reward hard working people, spending hours on this site and helping it grow and be a safe place for people who love Harry Potter, it should be impossible to hand out free VIP to people who have not logged in for 14 days.

Why would you give VIP to people who didn't log in, but wouldn't give it to people who spend hours of their day making this site the amazing place it is today? That doesn't only sound unfair, but in my opinion even devalues the work people with student jobs do on this site.

My option would be to lose the free VIP to lure people back to the site but replace it with something less valuable, or shorten the free VIP period from one week to two days.

Do we get points if we grade a homework which ends up in "non-graded" ?

Squirrel Jo 6 years ago updated by World of Potter 6 years ago 3

I was wondering... I'm a 5th year student and I know that lots of homeworks above the 4th year end up in the "non-graded" file for ATs to grade it. If I an the only one to grade a homework and its ends up one week later in the "non-gradeds", do I still get the grading points ?

Answer
World of Potter 6 years ago

Yes you do, in the overview homeworks you have graded, you can then see the submitted work has only 2 or maybe 3 feedbacks instead of the usual five and you will still be rewarded the points. However the end grade will be the one given by the AT/teacher and not the average of the 5 gradings.

Hogsmeade RPG warning

L M M 7 years ago 0

So I don´t know if the rule is the same on all the sites, however, on the danish site only third years and up are allowed to roleplay in Hogsmeade, which makes sense lore-wise. That being said I think they should add a warning to Hogsmeade so that people don´t  begin an interesting RPG only to have it shut down because of their year. I´m not asking to have the rule changed but to have it made more visible because , in my experience, alot of users are not aware of it.

Pensieve status question

Jada Nightflame 7 years ago updated by World of Potter 6 years ago 2

There is a pensieve that you can buy, but on the statuses page it says that one needs to win this status. How does this work? If you buy it, do you automatically get that status? I and many others don't get it...

Limit for Topic Rplies

Luthor Page 7 years ago 0

I don't know about anyone else, but one thing that bugs me REALLY BAD is SHORT ONE LINE TOPIC REPLIES! That isn't fun for anybody when doing topics. No one knows how to respond, no one knows what the setting and surroundings are, it just gets hard to do a topic with people only putting one or two lines. I propose we put a 3 line MINIMUM for topic replies, just like when starting a topic. (US Rule). Prefects could manage this as apart of their duties. Some topics die out really quickly because no one can respond to the one liner that said: "And then he walked in and ignored everyone."

If he ignores everyone you can't really reply something like: "She walks up to him and is ignored."

It just isn't really fun. A 3 line minimum for topics would make sure that our topics have more detail and enough words to keep people engaged! I would suggest making it four or five lines minimum, but I know people who usually only write one liners might be a little mad at this.

If we manage to put this rule into effect, imagine how much better and engaging our topics will be!

Club Requirements For Clubs

Luthor Page 7 years ago updated 7 years ago 3

I am not trying to be rude, or offend anyone. But I think we need some requirements for clubs!! Such as, after 2 or 3 weeks, you need at least 5-10 members, UNLESS your club is something like a club for a house quidditch team, or a family club.

What I am mainly looking at is clubs with no use or purpose. For example, the Forever Alone club on the US site. Its a funny joke and all, but just a club that sits there and does nothing is no fun to anyone. It's a waste of space. Having a few requirements for clubs would definitley help out other clubs. Some clubs have barley any members because They copied the same idea from another club, hoping to be more popular. Here are some suggestions:

-A minimum of 20 members at the end of the first month

-It dosent count as an actual member if the club owner uses other accounts to ramp up the members

-A purpose of some sort, such as a Pun Club would focus on puns!

-(Maybe) A staff member with timeout powers included in the club, just so no clubs arent breaking any rules and can help out

What do you guys think?

XXXXX-topics only for adults

Angela Day 7 years ago updated by Agnes Dupont 7 years ago 5

Hello!
So, I realize that this is a topic, that has been discussed a lot on the different pages, but I can't seem to find a suggestion for it here on the feedback-page: Sex and the likes in topics!

It's wonderful, that there's the rating-system for topics, but I believe it's somewhat insufficient regarding the protection of our younger users - because in spite of the rating-system, any user can access any topic on the site, and I know from myself, that I don't think twice before accepting the warning, that pops up when entering a higher rated topic.

My suggestion would be this:

Make it impossible for users under the age of 15/18/21(whatever is most suitable) to enter topics or create topics with a rating of XXXXX.

So people would just get a message saying 'This topic is rated XXXXX. We're sorry, but due to the content of this topic, only users of the age 18 or above are allowed to enter.'

What about the Prefects? This particular group of users should of course be excepted from the rule, since their job is to monitor all forums and topics on the site. They should be able to enter XXXXX-topics, but not create them for themselves.

The inspiration to these thoughts was me stumbling across a topic with a very detailed sexual scene. I found myself a bit shocked and a tad bit shaken - though my IRL age is 24 - so I can only imagine, what even younger persons would feel, reading things like that.

We should do our utmost best to keep our younger users safe!

We don't want to age restrict as we think users should be able to see what they want, if they want.

What we don't want, is to show something they don't want. That is why we use the XXXXX rating system.
