"Expelled" or "Dropped out"
Having the option Expelled or Dropped Out next to year would be a fun diverse way to play with character development. Not all characters graduate some get kicked out and some voluntarily drop out of school.
There are many users who have written in their backstories that they have been expelled or they have dropped out, so having graduated as their year is not really representative of their character.
It would be great if we were able to add those options!

Not necessarily, a 12-year-old would be expected to be homeschooled at that age, or go to another school. The general consensus is that guardians do not let their children roam alone free in the outside world without supervision, there is no harm in assuming all guardians have that protective nature. So steps would still be normal and therefore underage students should not be allowed to have access to the outside world. Yes there could be a few minute instances that some parents don't care and allow their children to roam wherever without hindrance. Just for following the norm and Just for order's sake that would probably be best kept unchanged.
"Dropped out" should be an option when it's not a legal requirement to be in school so around 16 or sixth year.
And "Expelled" would be an option for anyone, but steps still apply, you cannot be working at any age under 16 and you would either be expected to be homeschooled until the age of 16 or just chill at home doing nothing. It is just a fun little label to have in the profile pop up.
I also think it should have to be approved by the Headmistress (if the reason for the expulsion was in school) or the Minister of Magic (if the reason was using magic outside of school). This also means they have to have a full story about it in their backstory and a topic of their expulsion happening.
None of that is where the problem lies. It lies with access to stuff, there would need to be an equivalent to Graduate in order to get the site features.
ahhh I see what you mean now. Since it's coded for access by graduate and not by age....hmm that does make things difficult. Looks like there's no room for flunkers on this site XD pahaha
I guess the only other thing I could think of is to have it on the side bar of the main profile, an extra line where it clarifies education status, and that would be something you can choose in your edit profile section.
You guys are allowed to have a character dropping out or being expelled??? Amazing. We are not :( not even in the profile text or backstory.
Now I want this just to be able to do that. Specially the dropping out thing, since I believe many students would chose not to go further than the OWLS. Or just keep being home-schooled.
ALTHOUGHT since WoP seems to revolve around the Hogwarts experience, I don't see this happening. And the issue with the +8 stays, because these people would only be able to write topics on the holidays.
Maybe it can be solved by allowing everyone to access the +8? But if a student creates a topic there, the prefect team blocks it, or something like that. I think that's easier, maybe...
